What I Read: January 2019 Edition

The Belles by Dhonielle Clayton evoked a visceral respond in me more than once. I was at once enchanted by all of the talk about colors, flavors, scents, and textures, and sicken by the cultural and jobs of some of the occupants of this fantasy world.

The only thing I didn’t like about the book was the ending, but only because it was a cliffhanger. The follow up book isn’t out yet.

This was the second or third time around for the Dresden Files books. These books are like a comforting television show that you put on in the background when you’re cleaning. The books are old friends.

Read them all. Do it now.

Author: B.A. Burgess

Barbara Burgess is a writer which is apparent by the text in this box and the box above. She is best known for being a multi-genre/multi-writing voice author who throws caution to the wind when describing her writing career - "Oh, I write children's books, holiday romance, and sci-fi. Why? What do you do? Just one thing?" In addition to being a writer of all the things, she is the founder of Pilgrim Fowl Press and a writing facilitator bringing permission to write to the masses via Skillshare and Udemy. The only social media she frequents is Instagram (@hellothisisbarbara). Her desert island movie is Stargate (the original with James Spader), and she has been taking daily mug shots of her morning coffee since before Instagram was even a thing.
