Things I’ve (Gone +) Done
I’ve recently started a day job! Yes. I am working a 9 to 5 once again. This eats into a lot of my creative time, gym time, and whatever else time. But, this is real life.
A note to the other writers, creatives and entrepreneurs – having a day job is not a sign of failure. It is a sign of responsibility. You need the health insurance. You need the steady income while your business’ income is shaky.
The insurance part is especially important to me right now. If you’ve ready any of my medical posts on Medium, you know that I’m still dealing with precancerous cells on my cervix which is an expensive thing to deal with whether you have insurance or not!
All of this is to say that if you have to take a full-time job and run a business at the same time, you’re not a failure! You’re being responsible, BUT don’t let the day job be an excuse to let your projects, businesses, and dreams sit on the back burner. Manage your time! Get your shit done! If you don’t want to be at your day job forever, act like it.
Things I’ve Seen
I’ve seen a lot of the gym and community centers lately.
I’ve see a lot of the lake, and my new job has a warehouse elements to it which means I get to walk the warehouse sometimes! (I have a special place in my heart for warehouses.)
I’ve seen one of my nieces boldly sing in front of her entire school. My step person has started typing. My partner has decided to run a Tough Mudder. I’ve seen some interesting things lately.
Things I’ve Read
I’ve read Gumption two or three times now. I highly recommend it. Anything with Malcolm Gladwell’s name on it is worth your time. I’ve started The Big Picture by Sean Carrell as well, but I’ve not yet finished it. Lots of information in that one.
Things I’ve Watched
Lucifer – I’m so glad Netflix brought Lucifer back! So good! Other than that, I’ve not really been watching anything. I killed the new episode of Lucifer and put the remote down. Well, aside from Wipeout reruns for laughs!
Things I’ve Loved
I love the Arnold speech lately – https://youtu.be/eWJVvNptHZ4 I’ve loved doing low impact cardio in my hiking sandals!
Photo of Something Awesome
That time I heard my book being read on TV.
